OK I’m back — with a small gripe and some cool, new stuff!

September 8, 2009

Sorry about that little lie about the hiatus.  It was a little hiatuser than I had planned.  Long story involving exploding computers, the gout, and lots and lots of tomatoes.  Hope I didn’t lose any of my readers . . . or . . . reader.

So, I know it’s day late/dollar short’nall but I must tsk tsk the portion of the Big Blue Nation (hereinafter BBN) that has already gone all fickle and is bustin’  a nut (term of art) over Cal wanting to spread the word about the UBBN (United Big Blue Nation) by giving the President of the United States a jersey.  Geeze.  Stop it.  You’re making this adventure of mine unpleasant.  Read more of it here.

Now, fun fun stuff!  I finally, FINALLY got my coachcal.com t-shirt, sticker and blue rubber bracelet.  Wooohoooo!!  Here they are.  Lust after them.  Or go to coachcal.com and get your own.

The shirt. Some Chinese stuff (Coach) and then "John Calipari"

Autograph of the one and only. I'm pretty sure my shirt was the only one with it. If you want it, I'll put in a good word.

adam_sandler_caricatureApropos to my recent search for some UK spirit-wear, the Lexington Herald-Leader (at lexgo.com)asks a compelling question, “What’s up with Adam Sandler wearing a University of Kentucky T-shirt in Funny People?”

Well, come to find out Sandler is not really a UK fan.  According to an insider, the sartorial selection was called a “character-related” choice.    Read more about the shirt story at  lexgo.com.

Well, a trip to T.J. Maxx proved fruitful.  If you’re looking for a wide variety of UK-ware at some rock-bottom prices, this is the place to go.  The shirts below made the final cut (that’s sports jargon isn’t it?) for my consideration.

1. Unique but a little too flashy.

2. I like this one. Vintage and stylish yet understated.

This one's kind of cliche, don't ya think. Zzzzzzzzz.

3. This one's kind of cliche, don't ya think? Zzzzzzzzz.

I like this one too. Made by Coliseum with a little more wow to it.

4. I like this one too. A little more wow than #2.

I decided on Number 2 — vintage yet subtle.  Now, the store  had the shirt priced at around $15, but I found the same shirt in the same store on a clearance rack for $5 — You can’t beat that.   Who says Wildcat fans can’t be thrifty?

Okay, so now I’m suited up.  Next job is to learn more about this new coach — the celebrated J.C.
